The - Western Syria Alliance strongly condemns the attack targeting the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Damascus, manifested in the lowering of its flag. This unacceptable act constitutes a blatant violation of diplomatic norms and human values, and reflects a dangerous disregard for the principles of diplomacy as a bridge for communication and mutual respect among nations.
This act cannot be separated from the exclusionary and eliminationist approach practiced by the de facto authority of a jihadist nature in Damascus. This authority’s conduct has spared no party—neither within Syria nor in its external environment—as it is rooted in rejecting others, marginalizing differences, and undermining any space for pluralism or coexistence. Such a mindset produces only further isolation and tension, pushing Syria farther away from the path of recovery and stability that its people aspire to.
The Western Syria Alliance affirms, based on its independent position, that respecting countries that pursue paths of development and openness is not a tactical choice but a principled commitment. In this context, the United Arab Emirates represents a model in supporting stability and humanitarian action, and has played a tangible role in assisting the Syrian people during times of hardship.
The Alliance believes that the future cannot be built on policies of exclusion and isolation, but rather on openness and cooperation with parties that share the values of stability and prosperity. From this perspective, any engagement grounded in mutual respect and shared interests represents a genuine opportunity to build constructive partnerships that serve the peoples of the region and support paths toward recovery.

Such hostile practices will not diminish the standing of the United Arab Emirates nor its role; rather, they expose the depth of the crisis faced by those who engage in such exclusionary behavior, and their inability to adapt to a regional and international reality that is moving toward partnership and integration.
The Western Syria Alliance will remain steadfast in its humanitarian and national commitment, rejecting all forms of exclusion, and remaining open to all potential partnerships based on mutual respect, in a manner that serves Syria’s future and restores its rightful place among nations.
