This act cannot be separated from the exclusionary and eliminationist approach practiced by the de facto authority of a jihadist nature in Damascus. This authority’s conduct has spared no party—neither within Syria nor in its external environment—as it is rooted in rejecting others, marginalizing differences, and undermining any space for pluralism or coexistence. Such a mindset produces only further isolation and tension, pushing Syria farther away from the path of recovery and stability that its people aspire to.

The Western Syria Alliance affirms, based on its independent position, that respecting countries that pursue paths of development and openness is not a tactical choice but a principled commitment.
